The moment that started it all.

Ashuro and Annaliese became best friends the moment they met; they could both relate with each other's pain and sorrow, so it was real easy for them to understand one another. After that day, the two of them did a lot together and always had loads of fun. On one particular day, Ashuro was on his way to see Annaliese when he saw her running from her two cruel brothers, John and Maxal in the distance. That very sight brought a flood of painful memories of how he had to run for his life from mobs of people everyday when he was a child...and the one person he could relate to the most was experiencing the same thing. Something snapped inside of Ashuro; when Annaliese and her two persuers past by him,  he grabbed both John and Maxal and slammed them into the ground then went over to the frightened girl to comfort her. John and Maxal were up on their feet again and coming at Annaliese again; Ashuro gets in front of her and acts as a human shield to seperate her from them. The brothers don't find Ashuro particularly threatening in the beginning, but that quickly changes when his anger takes control and partialy transforms him. Ashuro stares them both down with blood red eyes, making them stand still and cower in absolute terror. He greatly wants nothing more than to tear into the two cowardly bullies, but with Annaliese right there behind him he struggles to restrain himself; the LAST thing he wanted was for her to become afraid and not want to be his friend any longer. Ashuro lets them leave unharmed, but leaves them with their first and only warning:

Ashuro: John, Maxal, if I ever see either of you trying to harm Annaliese or if she ends up getting hurt and I find out that you two contributed to it in some way, next time...I will not hold back.

That was the day when Ashuro learned just how he felt about Annaliese, that he loved her. One of the things he remembered his master, A.K., teaching him was that when you find something truly precious to you, a priceless treasure, protect it with all your might; and that's exactly what he did. He vowed to protect Annaliese with his life and to give her all the love she could possibly want. She is his irreplaceable treasure. ^w^
